How do I edit, cancel or extend my borrow?

Job taking longer than expected, or just want to enjoy using the Thing for a few more days? Here's all you need to know about extending your borrow.

How to extend your borrow

You can extend your borrow any time before midnight on the return date, providing nobody has booked it out after you.

To extend your borrow, head to our website and log in to your borrowing account with your email and password.

Click on the icon of a person (between the cart and 'sign out') and click on 'Your borrowing', then click on 'Current' to see what you currently have out on loan.

Click 'Extend' on the Thing you want to extend the dates for. It'll show the dates you currently have it - now you just have to select the new date you want to return it!

Any greyed-out dates mean you can't bring it back on that date - so if someone else has booked to borrow your Thing next, you won't be able to extend your loan and will have to return the Thing on the original return date.

The website will tell you how much it'll cost for the extra days. Once you've picked your dates, hit 'Proceed to checkout' to pay for your extra days and confirm the borrow extension.

Please don't make a whole new reservation if you can avoid it! Sometimes we have more than one of the Thing you're reserving - so you may be assigned a different individual, which is a reservation of a whole different Thing. This becomes super confusing for everyone and creates more work for our team.

How to edit your borrowing dates

You can edit an upcoming borrow any time before the day you're due to collect.

You can do this by logging into your account on our website and going to 'Your Borrowing'. You'll see your reservation in the 'Upcoming' section, with an "Edit" button next to it.

Simply click the button and you'll be taken to the availability calendar, where you can change the start and/or end dates of your borrow.

Any greyed-out dates mean you can't borrow on that date - as someone else has probably booked the Thing already. If that's the case, you won't be able to edit your borrow and will have to collect and return the Thing on the original dates.

How to cancel your borrow

You can cancel an upcoming borrow for a full refund before 9am the day before you're due to collect.

You can do this by logging into your account on our website and going to 'Your Borrowing'. You'll see your reservation in the 'Upcoming' section, with a "Cancel" button next to it.
